West Known for His Hall of Fame Playing Career and Executive Success

Legendary basketball player and executive Jerry West has passed away at the age of 86. West spent 40 years with the Los Angeles Lakers, first as a player and then as an executive.

As a player, West led the Lakers to their first NBA championship in 1960, and he made nine NBA Finals appearances throughout his career. He was a 14-time NBA All-Star and was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 1980.

After his playing career, West transitioned to the front office, where he served as the Lakers' general manager for 18 years. During his tenure, the team won six NBA championships, including three with Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O'Neal.

West was known for his obsessive perfectionism and unwavering determination. He was a fierce competitor on the court and a gifted strategist off of it. His legacy as both a player and an executive will forever be enshrined in basketball history.
